News and events from Chestnut class.
Chestnut Class were lucky enough to visit the Roald Dahl Museum in Great Missenden last week. We learnt so much about Roald Dahl’s life and the different things he took inspiration from to write his books. We also learnt his editing process and we hope to use this as we get older to improve our writing.
We are explored the Museum with our wonderful guides. We got the chance to make different characters, explore Roald Dahl’s editing techniques and try and guess the original titles of some of his books.
We had so much fun dressing up in Roald Dahl’s school uniform, exploring his original writing hut, comparing our height with Roald Dahl and his book characters, seeing what we would look like with a beard like Mr Twit, listening to his stories, pretending to be one of the characters from his book, exploring a replica fighter plane like he flew and even eating chocolate walls.
We are paid our respect to Roald Dahl by visiting his final resting place. It was a lovely moment to reflect on what Roald Dahl has done for the world of literature and how his books have given us a place to escape to when life gets tricky. We had some beautiful conversations about what Roald Dahl’s books mean to us as we sat under the memorial tree and over looked his grave. We even found some BFG footprints!!
