The Early Years is all about learning through play!
At St Mary’s, we give children a warm and engaging start to their learning journey through hands-on experiences that bring learning to life. We make the most of our dedicated outdoor space, where children can explore, ask questions, and discover the world around them.
In our Nursery, we gently introduce phonics, early reading and writing, and basic maths through fun, interactive activities that capture children’s interest. One of the things that makes our Early Years setting special is the close connection between Nursery and Reception. Children learn alongside one another, building confidence and moving forward at a pace that suits them, with challenges that match where they are in their development. It’s a lively, supportive environment where every child is known, encouraged, and given the chance to flourish as they begin their time at St Mary’s.
Transition into Nursery
We know settling into a new environment can take a little longer for some children. We work closely with our families to ensure all nursery children have the opportunity to become familiar with the staff, routines and other children, so they feel happy, safe and ready to explore!
As a parent, you will be able to contact the Nursery Team directly via Class Dojo. Every child will have at least one "settling-in" session, with more available if needed.

From the term after your child's third birthday they will be eligible for either 15 or 30 hour funding. Click here to check your eligibility.
