Litter Picking Initiative
Serving Our Community: Pupils in Action with LAGER Can
Our pupils are actively involved in an ongoing litter-picking partnership with Amanda from LAGER Can, taking hands-on action to care for their local environment. Accompanied by their class teacher, the children wear gloves and high-visibility vests, ready to make a real difference in their community.
Guided by Amanda, the pupils work collaboratively to collect litter, sort recyclables, and discuss practical ways to reduce waste. These sessions not only improve the local area but also provide valuable lessons in teamwork, responsibility, and civic pride.
Throughout the ongoing initiative, the children have shown consistent enthusiasm and pride in their efforts, enjoying the satisfaction of leaving their local area cleaner and greener. Amanda and the team at LAGER Can have been instrumental in supporting the pupils, inspiring them to take an active role in environmental stewardship.
This continuing partnership highlights the school’s commitment to fostering community engagement, environmental awareness, and hands-on learning beyond the classroom.
Expanding Our Environmental Impact
Before the end of the summer term, the school welcomed Councillor John Martin, who presented an assembly to introduce a new community initiative focused on tackling fly tipping. Our prefects, Head Boy, and Head Girl joined Councillor Martin for the occasion, helping to highlight the importance of caring for our environment. The session encouraged pupils to think about how they can play a part in keeping their local area clean and raised awareness of future opportunities to get involved in community projects supporting environmental responsibility.
