Norwood Green Care Home

Building Connections Across Generations

St. Mary’s CofE Primary School is proud to partner with Norwood Green Care Home, fostering intergenerational connections that enrich both our pupils and the residents.

From the very first visit, our children were welcomed with warmth and enthusiasm. Each week, they spend time with residents playing games, sharing stories, and enjoying meaningful conversations. These visits have blossomed into something truly special — a genuine bond between generations, filled with laughter, learning, and friendship.

Recently, our pupils and the residents worked together on autumn-themed artwork, creating beautiful pieces as a team. The activity sparked wonderful conversations, encouraged creativity, and brought a touch of colour and joy to the care home. It was a perfect example of the shared experiences that make this partnership so meaningful.

Our pupils particularly enjoy playing games such as Dominoes and Snakes and Ladders, and sharing stories about school life. The residents’ joy and kindness make every visit memorable. One resident beautifully described the sessions as “sunshine in the week,” and we couldn’t agree more.

We are deeply grateful to the staff and residents of Norwood Green Care Home for welcoming us so warmly and for allowing our pupils to experience the power of community, kindness, and connection.

This ongoing partnership continues to give our children valuable opportunities to learn from others, show empathy, and build lasting friendships beyond the classroom.
