Our dishes are freshly prepared in our local kitchens using high quality, locally sourced ingredients and then delivered straight to the school ready for lunchtime.
We work closely with the St Mary’s school community to craft menus that are inclusive and packed with nutrition.

Meal Ordering Portal

At The Orchard Contract Catering, we understand that life can get busy. That’s why we’ve made it super simple for parents to order school meals quickly and easily through our online Meal Ordering Portal.
All meals must be booked in advance using the portal, just a few clicks and your child’s lunch is sorted! Please note: the daily cutoff time is 9:00am, so be sure to get those orders in before the morning rush. Please note we are unable to take orders after this time!
To keep mealtimes exciting, we run a three-week rotating menu full of variety and tasty favourites.
Families can log in anytime to view menus, make meal selections and stay up to date with what’s cooking. Plus, we send weekly order reminders.

Daily Delights In The Lunch Hall

Lunchtime at St Mary’s Church of England Primary School is always exciting! Every day, pupils can tuck into a delicious variety of freshly prepared meals made with care (and a dash of Orchard magic).
Here’s what’s on the menu:
• Wholesome Meat Dishes: Packed with quality ingredients whilst featuring classics that the children enjoy.
• Vibrant Vegetarian Dishes: Colourful, full of flavour and bursting with veggie goodness.
• Brilliant Vegan Options: Plant powered dishes that keep energy levels high and smiles even higher.
• Jacket Potato: Oven baked to perfection and topped with a tasty range of warm and cool fillings.
• Freshly Filled Soft Baps: Served with a crisp, colourful salad on the side for the perfect lunchtime combo.

Each meal is served with seasonal veggies, freshly baked bread and a daily dessert, including plenty of fresh fruit options. There’s also fresh drinking water available to keep everyone hydrated and happy.

Healthy, Balanced and Totally Inclusive

At The Orchard, we believe that healthy food can be exciting and full of flavour! That’s why all our menus are carefully crafted to be balanced, nutritious and fully in line with the Government’s School Food Standards to give pupils the energy they need to learn, play and grow.

Salad Bar

Every day, children can dive into our unlimited salad bar, packed with fresh options and all their favourites. It’s fun, tasty and super healthy… and the best part? It’s completely free from all 14 major allergens, so everyone can enjoy it safely.

Meat-Free Monday

We love putting a twist on lunchtime and Meat-Free Monday is a perfect way to do it! Every Monday, pupils can enjoy a range of delicious vegetarian and vegan dishes that are full of flavour and plant-powered goodness. It’s a tasty way to promote healthy eating and sustainability, while discovering new favourites along the way!

Theme Days

Each month, we shake things up with Theme Days! From seasonal celebrations to imaginative menus, these special days give pupils the chance to taste something new and exciting which doesn’t appear on our standard menu.
Families get advance reminders, so nobody misses out on the fun.

Allergies & Special Diets

We take food safety and inclusivity seriously. Parents and guardians of children with allergies or dietary requirements should contact the Orchard office directly, our team will work closely with you to ensure every meal is safe, suitable and delicious.
We’re also proud to operate a nut free kitchen, keeping all pupils and staff safe while they enjoy their meals.

We care deeply about the planet and we’re on a mission to make every meal nutritious for children and kind to the Earth.

Here’s how we do it:
• Locally & Seasonally Sourced: Our ingredients are fresh, local and seasonal, cutting down food miles while supporting British farmers and suppliers.
• Compostable Everything: Any disposable items we use are 100% compostable, so they break down naturally with no lasting footprint.
• Smart Meal Planning: Our clever meal ordering system helps us cook just the right number of meals each day, reducing food waste.
By combining sustainable ingredients, careful portion planning and responsible packaging, we serve meals that are good for children and good for our planet!

Cancellations & Food Waste

If your child is absent from school, please cancel their meal through the ordering portal. Every cancelled meal helps us cut down on food waste.

School Trips & Packed Lunches

Is your child heading out on a school trip? Don’t worry, we’ve got it covered!
The meal ordering portal will show a packed lunch option, so you can easily select it when placing your order. Packed lunches are freshly prepared and delivered to the school in time for departure.

School Lunch vs Packed Lunch

While packed lunches are a handy option, school lunches have the edge:
• Designed by experts to meet the Government’s School Food Standards, ensuring wholesome, balanced meals every day.
• Offer more variety, nutrition and value, plus the added bonus of socialising with friends at lunch!
• Reduce packaging waste and help support our sustainability mission.

All children from Reception to Year 6 are entitled to a free school meal, while Nursery meals are chargeable. Please visit the meal ordering portal for pricing details and further info.
